You and TULLE and everything you should know!!

Tulle Fabric is named after the French town of Tulle, pronounced "tool", where it most likely originated during the 18th century. Most tulle fabric is machine-made using a Bobinette structure, a hexagonal design that uses tension in the threads to retain shape. The result is a surprisingly strong fabric, light in weight and delicate in appearance only.

The jyst of Totally Tutus and TULLE
I only use the highest grade of tulle to create the most exquisite tutu's
- A tutu fit for a Queen!
Totally Tutus believes in protecting our children! I would NEVER expect your child to wear something I would never put on my own. Our tutu fabric is Lead safe nylon apparel tulle (NOT CRAFT TULLE) and is manufactured in North America, which is VERY IMPORTANT and is what separates Totally Tutus from others.
Because our tulle has to pass very stringent quality tests, the federal government recognizes nylon as being inherently flame retardant. Many companies like to use polyester tulle because it's cheaper but polyester tulle is not safe. Polyester tulle is sometimes treated to make it flame retardant, but the chemical used may be a carcinogen, which can lead to cancer.
Just say NO to VOC's
As a retailer of consumer goods, I go to great lengths and ensure that all of our products comply with the CPSIA and other laws enforced by the CPSC.

The LOW DOWN of Totally Tutus and TULLE

Our North American-made Tulle is:

  • Fire Resistant
    • Rated Class 1 according to the standard for the flammability of clothing textiles (CFR Title 16 Part 1610) and the manufacturing process does not use any of the flammable solvents that they use overseas.
  • Non-Toxic and Safe for Children's Clothing
    • Meets or exceeds USA CPSIA and Canada HPA guidelines for lead/toxicity levels
o  The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008 authorized a variety of new regulations and testing requirements for children’s products and some non-children’s products. The CPSIA fundamentally changed how product safety is regulated in North America.
  • Soft to Touch and Less Irritating to Skin
    • Our tulle has a finer mesh weave pattern and a higher quality nylon thread that is gentle on the skin. This is especially important for tutus and children's clothing!
Don't be mislead by imported 'hobby' tulle which is often highly flammable and cheaper in price.

If you are purchasing ANY type of apparel made with tulle, you owe it to your family/children, to offer them the safety they deserve.

If you have any further questions or concerns regarding tulle, PLEASE do not hesitate to ask.

Caring for your tutu…EASY as 1….2….3

Your tutu will come folded so it will require a little bit of fluffing upon arrival. Remove from the package and hang right away. Start with the inside layers first and work your way out by running your fingers through the layers. Once you have worked your way pulling and fluffing through all of the layers, I recommend hanging the tutu in your bathroom and running a hot shower for 5-10 minutes so the steam can get out any creases - A steamer will also work, just be careful not to get too close.

If you happen to spill something on your tutu, I recommend that you simply run the areas under warm or cool water and clean by hand or use a clean, damp wash cloth to spot clean, then hang your tutu to dry. Once it's dry just simply re-fluff. DO NOT wash or dry in the washing machine and dryer and DO NOT iron!
Always store your tutu/tutu dress on a hanger when not in use.
Prevent and reduce any static cling by lightly rubbing a dryer sheet over the layers or lightly spraying with and anti-static spray, such as Static Guard.
THAT'S IT!!
If you have any other questions or concerns about caring for your tutu then please do not hesitate to ask, I am always hear to help.

April Showers Bring May Flowers!!

Im excited to let each of you know that I have finally managed to find some time to work on some of the new ideas and designs Ive had stuck in my head for sometime, some as long as 2 years
I have started on most of them but since I started them all at once, I seem to be having difficulties completing each one since my head is a whirl wind of ideas. Which is not a bad thing per-say since I think of even more ideas but it does make finishing the project somewhat of a task.

Spring is here and with that comes many weddings, which makes me ecstatic because I get the opportunity I get to create fabulous one of a kind dresses that I dont always get to create on a day to day basis.

As most of you know I AM NOT A PHOTOGRAPHER.....which should not come as a surprise, since many of you have also seen the product shots I have done for myself.....LOL.......
So with that being said I have gone ahead and invested in a mini home studio for doing my product shots.
I am well aware that this will not make me a photographer but it may help with some of the on going issues I have when it comes to photographing my items.
(IE ~ Color)
Overall I just hope it will make it a better shopping experience for YOU!!

Spring cleaning has begun over here at Totally Tutus,
What does that mean for you, you ask??
Well keep your eyes open for a AUCTION.....Yes thats right a auction!!
I know how much some of you love the thrill of auctions, I dont blame you, its fun and exciting in many ways.
All items will be extremely discounted, some even priced lower then what I paid for them.

This is something you will not want to miss!!

Have a Fabulous Day!!

Where has the time gone!!!

Sorry for the lack of post in the last several months.
Business has gone to a whole new level and its sure keeping me busy these days.
I was closed for 3 week so my family and I could enjoy a trip to Disney World.

Over the last few months I have expanded my product line and now offer many new and exciting products. I now make a wide array of photography props from NB crowns and halos to hand dyed wraps to flower petal hats. I also brought in some little boy ties and they seem to be a hit.

I have many new and exciting ideas and designs coming your way, I have already started working on them but more on that to come at a later date.

I just wanted to drop a little note for now and I promise you all that my blog will become just as exciting as my fan page.
